Jane Rusk & Walter McKinnie

Jane Rusk, b.  1770, Derry, County Derry, Ireland; d. age 79, abt 1849, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.  Emigrated 1770, Ireland.  Daughter of Mary Glendening and niece of Alex Glendening (d. Feb 1812, Peters Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania).   Jane’s father had taken ill and died as they were preparing to immigrate to America.  Jane was just six weeks old when they sailed (Jane’s bachelor uncle, Alexander Glendening, died in Feb 1812 in Peters Twp., Franklin Co.).  Jane married in 1790, Franklin County, Pennsylvania to Captain Walter McKinnie, b. 1748, Chester County, Pennsylvania; Walter died at age 58, 20 Apr 1806, Franklin County, Pennsylvania.  Son of Josiah McKinnie (1720-1782) and Isabel (~1724-1777)

  • Josiah McKinnie (1791-1836), b. 18 Aug 1791, Church Hill, Peters Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; d. 20 Nov 1836; m. 22 Sep 1814, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania to Eliza Cambell.
  • Robert McKinnie (1795-1882), b. 31 May 1795, Church Hill, Peters Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; d. age 86, 6 Apr 1882, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; m. 5 Feb 1824, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania to Elizabeth Waddell, daughter of Thomas Waddell and Catherine Long.
  • James Rusk McKinnie (1797-1869), b. 18 Feb 1797, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; d. age 72, 30 Dec 1869, Delaware County, Ohio; m. 12 Feb 1824, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania to Margaretta Cambpell, daughter of Patrick Campbell and Frances Stockton.
  • Isabella McKinnie (1799-1816), b. 13 Jul 1799, Church Hill, Peters Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; d. age 17, 1 Nov 1816.
  • Adam McKinnie (1801-1898), b. 17 Jan 1801, Church Hill, Peters Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania; d. age: 97, 18 Oct 1898, Westerville, Franklin County, Ohio; m. Maria Bard.
  • Mary McKinnie (1803-), b. 19 Feb 1803; m. 12 Jan 1820, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania to James [Poe] McMullen, son of [John McMullen and Mary Poe] – Note:  [Mary Poe, d. 4 Oct 1818, Mercersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, daughter of Thomas Poe and Mary Potter; Thomas Poe, b. abt 1711, Ireland; d. 1770, Cumberland Co., Antrim Twp., Pennsylvania; Thomas Poe emigrated first to New Castle on the Delaware. He removed to Concocheaque Valley in 1741, and to Antrim Twp., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in 1746. It was here in Pennsylvania that he obtained a land warrant on October 9, 1750, for 568 acres and 40 perches] .
  • Walter McKinnie (1804-1809), b. 29 Nov 1804; d. age 4, 25 May 1809.
